The Center for Support and Wellness is dedicated to all community residents. Outlined are the steps that we typically follow for a wellness referral.
- An individual may call or visit our office on behalf of themselves or their family. We will make an appointment that is convenient for you. During that appointment we will do an assessment of your needs, ask basic demographic questions, work with you to determine what you are looking for, and gather any other pertinent information.
- We will do all the work to find a provider that matches your needs, your insurance situation, and the provider’s availability. Please note: lack of insurance should never be a reason not to seek out assistance. We will be able to find assistance for you at a low cost, sliding scale, and free in some circumstances.
- During your assessment meeting or within 24 hours the meeting, you will be provided with a name and number for the appropriate resource.
- Follow up. Your assigned staff member at the CSW will contact you to ensure the appointment was made with the provider and will continue to follow through to ensure a positive match has been made with the provider.
A counselor or teacher at one of the Newtown schools may contact the Center for Support and Wellness as a way to get a family connected with resources outside of the school system. This is appropriate when a student may need their family support through a difficult time or when concerning familial situations are present during the school day. When the CSW is contacted by the school, the school staff have already received permission from the family. The school will recommend the family to call the CSW or the CSW will call the parents.
Prior clients of the Recovery and Resiliency Team
We welcome all residents of Newtown, including those who previously used the Recovery and Resiliency Team. Prior clients may use the center to seek out additional or different resources. You also may contact us when you see a need in the community to see how we can be off assistance.
