What is the CSW?

The CSW stands for The Center for Support and Wellness. Before I tell you what we do, let me give you a bit of history. Prior to the 12/14 tragedy in Newtown, there was a vision to have a social worker for the town. The need started to gain momentum when tragedy befell on Newtown. The logistics of adding a full time social worker had to be put on the back-burner, as did everything else because taking care of the families and community was the priority. During this time a grant was written to establish the RRT; Recovery and Resiliency Team  (Note: The Recovery Center of Newtown is a different organization.) The RRT was a team tasked to be a referral center and clearing house for those impacted by 12/14 and struggling to find resources. That grant came to a close in March 2016. The Town of Newtown and Pat Llodra then saw this as the time to revisit social-worker services for the town and established the Center for Support and Wellness. Officially named and open on April 2, 2016 the CSW provides care navigation, case management, and referral resources for all community for most all reasons. We do not provide services for life threatening psychological emergencies.  We are open for everyone; including those impacted by 12/14.
